It is our nature to be gatherers, nesters, and sense makers: creating, destroying, and resolving. Finding purpose within our lives and a created system that does not fully reflect who we are. Through the creative mind, we strip bare the unnecessary, within our built environment.
How we live in our homes is fundamental to how we live our lives, what we surround ourselves with, and whom. To be better is to do better, for ourselves and others. Living fully, through the creative mind is a means to build better lives and futures, shining a sideways glean on what makes us human, inspiring and resolving as we navigate onward. The creative endeavor is innate to who we are, creating through beauty and problem solving through tech. This is what we’ve come from, energy and beauty, and this is what we can create for the future. If only we see it for what it is, a fact of who we are, and the good we can create.
If we can damage the natural environment as it seems we have, we can create a resolve which is what we are doing. It is not a matter of if or can’t, but what and how fast. This is all within our sight and grasp, what we are willing to see and do. We are the reflection of possibility, of good and bad: destruction, creation, problem, and resolve.
It is the creative mind that moves the needle, inspiring change, and easing our living. Beauty is a reflection of who we are, as is nature, and all the creative endeavors.

Beauty is not a panacea, it is a salve that eases, uplifts, and inspires our ways of being human. It is a reflection of who we are, in all its depths. Beauty, within the brutal. This is life and living, a paradoxical path of equanimity: joy, worry, and resolve. Living life is not a matter of balance but of being present to the moment at hand, building better, and being better: trying, failing, and trying again. This is within our constitution, our makeup of cells, bones, blood, and the persistence of memory. Where we’ve come from and of what we are made. Beyond mere survival, into the intention of building a better future, by way of creating experience, now.

Even within the nuances of texture and material, we find the solace and depth of beauty, what elevates our private and public lives, equally. It is with the hand created that we see this, and the boundless creativity of nature. We know this to be true in our homes and in what we wear and even eat, nourishing our bodies and minds. What we see, we don’t necessarily take in, we already are, an even more subtle nuance of beauty.

Who we are is beauty, energy and potential, seen in the acorn that falls from the tree. We are not in the universe, the universe is within us, and so goes with beauty, and possibility. We are deep mystery and imperfection, twirling within the blackness of space and stars: home.

NOURISH was founded on the intent to support the creative endeavor of others, those who are primarily local. But too, to speak to why we create and collect. To bridge the gap between person and object. The why before the what. Through material and the intimacy of making, we express and excavate our experiences of being human. Resolving and uplifting by way of beauty and the creative mind. This is why we create and collect. Our universal language, without words. And this, is why NOURISH exists.
It is my belief that all creative endeavors exist on the same horizontal line as Art. Thus all should be curated together: furniture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, books, etc. Each of these categories has the same function, to uplift, inform and otherwise bring joy, through the depths of beauty and the creative mind.
The creative arenas are difficult to manage on one’s own. It is also difficult to bridge the gap between creator and the general public. It is through the community of creators, collectors, and educators that the light is shown upon the benefits of living with and appreciating art, be it a chair or a painting.
I believe strongly in what the creative mind can do. If we can destroy inadvertently, we can create intently, a better now and future. Through architecture, art, and design we create possibility. This is my hope and intent with NOURISH.

We create and collect as a means of sense-making, in our world of complexities. To uplift and bring joy, and bask in the depths of beauty. Through the creative mind, we thrive, to be better and to do better. Ideas are just energy, if they are not put into action. It is within the creative endeavor we resolve and soothe, our condition of being human.

On a daily bases, innovation is being created that enhances our ways of living, though we hear very little about it. Change happens, not in the light of what’s possible, but in the shadows, steadfastly moving forward by days and inches. It is through creative innovation that the light is broadened, shedding light and creating growth. We are creative beings, through endeavor, we build the new and bury the old in history.

If we are to survive our own undoing, we must first acknowledge our hand in the unraveling, filling the hole that is now carved out. We can go to the moon and scour the universe, but here we are the ones who create, and the ones who destroy. This is where we start, for whom this is all for, creating what’s possible out of the alchemy of ruins.
