We are each, the manifestation of beauty, born from the stars and burdened by the trials of being human. It is beauty that soothes our ills, the salve that makes us better, or at least makes us feel as if, better. The beauty of the hand-created separates us for a moment from the trials and errors of daily life.
Living With Art
Through the creative mind, we resolve, question and ease, by way of the built environment, nature and the act of making.
By Virtue Of The Creative Mind
The Sculptures Of Jon Barlow Hudson
Nature and the hand-created are reflections of who we are. They are storytellers and salves, easing informing and offering meaning. The scale and reach of equanimous meaning.
Jon Barlow Hudson is a contemporary sculptor working with various natural stones and metals. His site-specific work has been placed in twenty-three countries around the world. The work is influenced by Ancient Chinese jade ritual objects and time-space continuum, and the teachings of Zen Buddhism and Tai Chi. These sculptures are a conversation between us and nature, the physical and the ephemeral: body, mind, time, space, and mark-making. Who we are and becoming.
The Rapture Of Being Alive
Why we create and collect is our pull toward meaning and our need for purpose. As Joseph Campbell has said, "the rapture of being alive" within "the experience of living." The awe of beauty. Who we are.
