The Artisan And The Artisanal

“Living fully through the creative mind.”

The creative endeavor can be viewed as a map, it informs, resolves, eases, and inspires, as we navigate our lives forward. Living fully through the creative mind. Seeing what you are seeing. Experiencing, appreciating, contributing, and consuming. Being present, outside the body and mind, and within. This is what the hand created brings, presence to beauty, time, and living life.

What we create and collect tells a story of who we are: beauty, faith, and desire. Our collections bring us joy and a sense of security. They tie us to others, going beyond our four walls and mindful concerns. We consume them, much like we consume our food, giving nourishment to our minds and bodies. The hand created brings a sense of community as we navigate the uncertainties of living, supporting ourselves as we support the endeavors of others. The artisan, and the artisanal. Living with the beauty of the hand created inspires, eases, and connects us to a deeper sense of living.

NOURISH And The Creative Endeavor

“Beauty is a salve, creativity its vehicle.”

NOURISH Gallery | Benjamin Provo, Liadain Warwick Smith, SENTIENT, Carl Barnett

Beauty is a salve, creativity its vehicle. Through NOURISH I explore what the creative endeavor does, reflecting who we are, the perfectly imperfect. It is through the creative mind we resolve, ease and inspire.

“The world is troubled because we are troubled, the Earth is ill because we are.”

The hand created reflects who we are: body, mind, emotion, and energy. What binds us as humans, the complexities of beauty.

NOURISH is a concept of creativity and support. Living fully, through the creative mind: resolve, inspiration and beauty. To do better, to be better, to try. The world is troubled because we are troubled, the Earth is ill because we are. This is why we create and collect, to give purpose, meaning, and ease to our living, and our ways of being human.

Through the creative endeavor we thrive. A little lighter. A little easier.

Connection. Why We Create And Collect.

“This is why we create and collect, making physical the ephemeral. Giving weight to emotion, and the transience of being human.”

There is a connection between our inner world and our outer world: beauty within, beauty without. This is why we create and collect, making physical the ephemeral. Giving weight to emotion, and the transience of being human.

The world is troubled because we are troubled. The Earth is ill because we are. In contrast, the world is beautiful, as we are beautiful. Two realities that co-exist in equanimity. What we think, we see more of, what we do, we get. The creative endeavor is a mirror, window, and door to who we are and what the world can be, and is. If we can destroy through the creative mind, we can create, better.

“For the sake of the ego, we sometimes create what does not fully serve us as humans.”

Since the onset of the industrial revolution, we have lost our connection to the Earth, wonder, and magic. And with the advent of AI and VR, this disconnection is increasing. We are widening the gap between who we are, where we are, and each other. For the sake of the ego, we sometimes create what does not fully serve us as humans. The creative mind can be a tool for change, both negative and positive depending on where the ego lies.

It is through the hand created that we connect to others and ourselves, shining light and easing our passage onward.

“Beauty is a reflection of who we are, and what we can achieve.”
